Update and quick guide:
Graphics now work 100% - i originally did not install the X3100 kexts that came with the distro i downloaded, but tried and all works well now.
What you will need.
Hardware£16 Broadcom 4311 PCI Express card to replace your existing one.
Software to download (may as well have it all on a memory stick before you begin!)All these application can be found by googling
1)OSX86Tools
2)Mac 10.5.5 update (not the combo one! - you need the 360ish mb one)http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1055update.html
3) ALC268Installer 2 or 1
4) Voodoo kernel (currently beta 2)
Installation1) Right then first you will need you distro - google aitkos 4i 10.5.4 torrent and download and burn the dvd
2) Make sure in your bios that ACPI is set to disabled
3) Install the broadcom card and cover pin 11 (google guide for this)
4) Pop the disk in and boot up - it will start to install
5) Before you get to the installation part you must format your disk (when you get to the point where a menu appears at the top of your screen do the following Utilities > Disk Utilities. I personally create 2 partitions (set to GUID) one called OSX and the other SPARE - once you have created these close the Disk Utilities and continue.
6) Select the drive to install the OS onto a click next. Make sure that when you get to the customise install screen you click on customise.
7) The only things you need to select are - Patches > Bios (just pick the first on) and VGA > Intel > X3100

Continue install until you get the green tick at the end to reboot.
9) Reboot machine. You may find the first time you reboot before creating you account is that your screen may go corrupted once, just reboot until it gets to the account screen.
10) Once your account is setup you will have MAC installed on your system!
At this point you ethernet will be working & your sound will work but not with headphones in but before we sort this out you will need to update MAC to 10.5.5.
11) Copy OSX86tools into your applications folder
12) Open up Terminal found in > Utilities > Terminal
13) In terminal type "sudo -s" without the quotes, then type again without the quotes "while sleep 1 ; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext ; done"
14) Leave the terminal running in the background and install the 10.5.5 update - follow all instructions and reboot your MAC.You should now be on 10.5.5
15) Once rebooted you can update the kernel to the Voodoo beta 2 kernel to do this open OSX86Tools and click on install kernel. This will let you backup your old kernel. Then install the new kernel and reboot.
17) To get the sound working double click on the ALC268Installer 2 or 1 - when this has finished reboot. Simple. You have to make sure that you select either internal when using headphones and external when through the laptop speakers.
18) You should now have a 100% working MAC
The last thing you can also fix is getting the Battery metre showing in the top bar - i have had to rush this guide but will amend once i remember how to do it.
Let me know how you get on or email me
